Jack Johnson，从未想要成为超级巨星。他有他的道理跟坚持。

2001年起，发行三张个人专辑和四张电影原声带（三部冲浪+一部动画），唱片公司大老板摸不着头绪，这个冲浪选手怎会一次比一次畅销，签约金立刻加两倍，然后杰克强森也立刻退回：”用钱买人买歌的想法，令我不安。“还好大老板有慧根，改成一张空白合约：“尊重你的一切决定。”这才唤回杰克强森，让他能安心创作。

安心创作，说来可不简单。首先，他成立自己的音乐厂牌 Brushfire Records，广邀同好 Matt Costa、ALO 等创作歌手加入，不让环球高层干预任何音乐制作；然后，他在夏威夷的自宅盖起名为“芒果树”录音室，屋顶铺满太阳能版 (专辑内附小册有图为证)，以太阳能发电录制专辑，不用耗电的电脑录音软体, 不断彩排演唱新歌，然后一气呵成将歌曲录制在盘带上，另外，再详加确定全世界都采用百分百再生纸印制专辑。

我和我朋友刚完成了新专辑《Sleep Through the Static》的录制工作。现在我体重190磅（译者：约86.2公斤），耳毛更长了。我已经有了两个孩子。虽然是我妻子生的，但也有我的帮忙。新专辑中的一些歌曲是有关生宝宝的；一些是关于抚养他们的；一些是有关孩子长大后将要迈入的世界的，一个包含战争、爱、恨、时间、空间的世界；另一些则是关于告别我所爱的我所思念的人们的。

在夏威夷与洛杉矶，我们在太阳能的模拟磁带机上录制音乐。一天，JP Plunier进入录音室就告诉我们：“都已经4、6英尺的磁带了，始终都是无精打采的内容。”于是之后，我们为他献上的音乐，倾注各种风风雨雨，当然也有灿烂的阳光。同时由录音师Robert Carranza协助将音乐恰到好处地呈现出来。

Jack Hody Johnson (born May 18, 1975)is a Hawaii-born singer-songwriter, musician, filmmaker, and surfer who achieved commercial success and a dedicated following, after the release of his debut album, Brushfire Fairytales in 2001. He has since released four more albums and a number of EPs. His music is best described as acoustic/soft rock.

Sleep Through the Static is the fifth studio album by singer-songwriter Jack Johnson, released in the U.S. on February 5, 2008. The effort was announced on Johnson's personal website as renovation began for the release of the album. It was recorded at L.A.'s Solar Powered Plastic Plant, which makes it Johnson's first album not made in Hawaii.

This more political album was played live for the first time at the BBC in December for a select number of fans. It has been reviewed by music critics around the world to mostly unenthusiastic reception. The album received mixed reviews from critics.

The first single, "If I Had Eyes", was released via Johnson's MySpace page on December 17, 2007.

The album debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling about 375,000 copies in its first week, including 139,000 digital downloads. This was a record high for weekly digital album sales. It also debuted at number one on the Worldwide chart with sales of 577,000.

Sleep Through the Static remained at number one on the Billboard 200 in its second week of release, by which time it had sold over 180,000 copies, as well as its third week, in which it sold 105,000 copies. It fell from the number one spot in its fourth week, in which it placed third with about 92,000 copies sold.

The album has sold 1,166,947 copies as of May 26th.

Coldplay确实是一支伟大的乐队。当我听到这张专辑的时候，我觉得就算我再用一些更疯狂的词语来形容他们也不过分，因为这几个人很容易就让很少听Rock的我拜倒沉迷了。他们的第四张专辑《Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends》从开始制作到单曲放出，一直调动着歌迷的疯狂。专辑封面启用世界名画，同时使用墨西哥的世界著名画家Frida Kahlo的作品《Viva la Vida》作为封面名称。关于这个名称的涵义，我Google的结果是有歌颂人生的意思。这种精神加上专辑封面，都与Coldplay自己的精神相得益彰，同时也展示了Coldplay 勇于展示发展新音乐元素的态度。

让我们来看看这张新专辑吧。听完整张专辑，Coldpaly的确用多变的曲风带给了我不同的感受。开篇的 Life In Technicolor 是一首纯乐器音乐，轻快的节奏，就像给人一个预热的机会，告诉你即将君临的精彩（据说这首歌都被Coldplay的成员拿来当手机铃声了）。紧接着的 Cemeteries Of London 的创意来自于美国惊奇漫画《Marvel comics》，歌曲一开头就立刻让你重温Martin那令人痴迷的声音，从开始的飘扬的唱法，到接下来的高潮，慢慢让你感受到一个黑白的场景。专辑里的那首作为 Bonus Track 的 Lost! 是最早发行的钢琴伴奏版，如果你直接去听那个钢琴伴奏版，你会认为这个版本已经足够优美了，但是在你听到正式版的 Lost! 时，你才能了解到什么叫做无限的华丽，Coldplay将一种狂放的鼓点和他们常用的节奏结合到了一起，那种境界只能让人五体投地……同时这首 Lost! 还是作为整张专辑的基准的，按照Coldplay的说法，他们的每张专辑都会有一首歌作为整张专辑的基础，而这第四张专辑的基础就是这首歌。《42》这首歌歌名取自于英国的一篇著名的科幻小说《银河系漫游指南》，不过我没能从歌曲中听出当我第一次看这本小说时感受到的冷幽默，反而感觉到了一种激昂，一种兴奋。整首歌是没有主歌副歌之分的，这点也能让你看出Coldplay在尝试创新。接下来的 Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love 应该是两首歌曲的合并，这是下我那个从名称上猜测加上从音乐分层上看YY出的结论。据说Coldplay在制作这张专辑时严格限制了每首曲目的长度，可能这也是产生这首歌曲的原因。前半部分的 Lovers in Japan 有一段老式酒馆钢琴独奏，后半部分的 Reign of Love 同样有着清新的风格。在 Yes 这首歌里，听者会有幸听到 Martin 用一种非常陌生，非常低的声音的歌唱，那是一种别样的性感。

当你听到这里的时候，专辑长度也超过接近一半，一种对Coldplay歌声的留恋也随之产生了，我无法猜测当你听到这个时候的心理感受，反正我在那种情况下甚至有点愤怒，三年的时间，Coldplay 难道只能制作出这么几首歌！？为什么不能满足一下歌迷的听觉！

Coldplay are a British alternative rock band formed in London in 1997. Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (also known as Viva la Vida) is the fourth studio album by English alternative rock band Coldplay. It was released on 12 June 2008 in the UK and will be released in North America on hard copy compact disc on 17 June, 2008 and was released on the Apple Inc. digital music store, iTunes, and the Amazon.com MP3 digital music store on 16 June, 2008. The project is produced by Brian Eno. Coldplay have released two singles from the record, "Violet Hill" and "Viva la Vida".

Viva la Vida (Spanish for Long Live Life or Live the life) takes its name from a painting by 20th century Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Duggan家族在NEW AGE界的地位十分耀眼，一个是恩雅(Enya),一个是Clannad(包括Brennan家族)。比照单飞的Enya，Clannad整体上在国际上的声望要更高一些。而Clannad乐队的主音与竖琴手就是Maire(Moya) Brennan莫雅,同时她也是恩雅的姐姐. 恩雅(Enya)在80-82年短短的两年里，也曾是CLANNAD乐队的成员，负责的是键盘和一部分人声。

Alanis Morissette1974 年 6 月 1 日生于加拿大安大略省渥太华市，是 90 年代中期最为出名的另类歌手之一。Morissette 曾经是一名童星，后来成为流行舞曲乐届的宠儿，最终成为另类乐坛的一位歌手，且会自己创作词曲，同 Liz Phair及 Tori Amos 并驾齐驱。

　　Morissette是土生土长的渥太华人，她童年时代即开始学习弹钢琴及词曲创作，10岁她参加了儿童电视节目的拍摄。她用拍片赚来的钱录制了第 1 首单曲《Fate Stay with Me》，在她 10岁那年推出。14 岁时，她同加拿大 MCA 唱片公司签了合约。1991 年，她赴多伦多谋求发展，并推出首张专辑《Alanis》。

Alanis Nadine Morissette (born June 1, 1974) is a Canadian-born singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. She has won twelve Juno Awards and seven Grammy Awards, and has sold more than 55 million albums worldwide.[1][2] Morissette began her career in Canada, and as a teenager recorded two dance-pop albums, Alanis and Now Is the Time, under MCA Records. Her international debut album was the rock-influenced Jagged Little Pill, which is the best-selling debut album by a female artist in the U.S., and the highest selling debut album worldwide in music history.[3][4] According to RIAA and United World Charts, Alanis is defined as the biggest selling female rock artist in music. The duo are based in Baltimore, USA, a small-scale town that’s got a lot going for it. Prices are low, venues are small, gigs are intimate and the crowd is welcoming. Now that crowd is growing. A quick look around on the internet reveals some very interesting commentary from fans and critics alike. One listener obviously can’t get enough, describing their experience of ‘Apple Orchard’ with eccentric colour: “It’s like eating a sunbeam with your ears, it’s like having honey drip over your internal organs, this song is so great.” Victoria is instantly taken aback as I read her this touching tribute. “I’ve never heard anything like that before! That’s really neat, it means that the words are having an effect on people’s imagination. That’s just going to breed more weird stuff!” she says with a chuckle. “Our Myspace page says, ‘visual/visual/visual’. That’s not a joke, it’s very real. We want our music to feel intense like syrup, very visceral.”

This is the Beach House open invitation, a musical mise-en-scene waiting to happen every time you hit play. A quick gaze at the cover art speaks volumes about what to expect from the disc inside. For their introductory album, it’s a close-up of what could easily be your grandmother’s jewelry box, bursting forth precious pearls, giant cubic zirconias and age-tarnished chains, all from another era when keepsakes were not just disposable commodities, but something precious to be handed down for all time. It’s not surprising then that it’s Victoria’s set of vintage organs, keys and pianos that create the starting point for songs. They are integral to the grain of the music, carrying the weight of her heavy-hearted dulcet tones, on the back of dense, textural-tinged melodies, with that special warmth of character that is unique to old analogue instruments.

As she sings (occasionally Alex does too), Victoria summons fragments of old memories blended with the new beginnings of tales not yet told. The inspiration comes “from the music itself,” she says. “From the chords that ring in the ears and a lot of visuals… I’m not sure exactly where they are coming from!” she admits. It’s almost like a special talent for synaesthesia. These are personal stories, accessible to all who care to bring their own imaginings to the songs, to make of them what they will.

This process of dialogue between the original intent of the songs and how listeners perceive them is something of great joy to them. A listener once heard, “I want to picture the nature” instead of “I want your picture but not your words” in the song ‘Master of None’,” Victoria recalls. It’s “a happy mistake,” she says, that sometimes when you think you are hearing something correctly (even though you’re not) this can be when you hear it best. To this effect, she gives a comic Manfred Man rendition: “Blinded by the light! Revved up like a deeeeuce!!!” I mean, what’s a deuce? Or is it a douche (as it is often, and absurdly, heard). Mondegreens [mishearings of song lyrics] are funny and Victoria is now chuckling down the phone. I get the impression that as long as the words have some positive meaning to Beach House listeners then that’s really all that matters to them.

There are other things Victoria is less light-hearted about, though, such as the fundamental assumptions that have been made about how Beach House create their beats. Most critics assume it’s the work of a drum machine and have reported this in their reviews. It upsets Victoria, as drum machines are not something she’s into. “I’ve been in bands that use drum machines before. It’s so different, very synthetic.” Beach House is not into precise, complex programming of beats but choose instead to work with the beats that are available on their organs and Yamaha keyboard. Sounds that are much more compatible with their warm, handmade aesthetic. For Beach House, the drum sounds certainly have their place but are far from elaborate. Instead it’s more like a subtle heartbeat that propels the song forward.

There’s also another good reason for the choices they make - there are only two pairs of hands in the band and this has a great influence on their style. It encourages processes to remain simple but harmonious and allows them to get away with doing things like recording the entire first album in their basement. Going on tour does present some challenges, however, like how to travel with an organ from 1973. This is circumnavigated, mainly, by taking along the keyboard instead in some instances, and making do with a minimal set of musical props at best. With the release of their new album Devotion, this is about to change. They are looking forward to a bigger performance with a guest percussionist joining to help create the little accents that will allow for something a little closer to their studio sound. The tour will take the band through the US, Canada, Europe and possibly Japan if all goes well.

Beach House are expected to grace our Australian shores in August this year, and Alex in particular, is really looking forward to this visit as it will indulge his other great passion - rocks. When asked what he likes to do in his spare time, he self-deprecatingly replies, “Mostly just reading books and watching movies…oh, and collecting rocks in a kinda pathetic way.” He explains further, “I studied a geology major at university, because who would think you can make pop music for a living?” The conversation then turns to the inevitable, one of the biggest rocks in the world. There’s a bashful and dare I say almost loving tone to Alex’s voice as he describes the stripes down the side of Uluru, the mammoth rock that demarcates Australia’s central heartland.

As the interview is winding up it’s a relief to note that, despite their growing recognition, Alex and Victoria seem very relaxed and are a pleasure to talk to. There’s not even a faint trace of rock star airs. I decide to sneak in one last question about something that has fascinated me about the letters that spell out the name of the band and the title of the album on the cover for Devotion. They’re laid out on a table at which Alex and Victoria are seated, facing each other with empty plates and what looks like a one-tiered wedding cake in the middle. “Are the letters made of dough?” Because that would be really neat. Victoria laughs, “No, no… They’re actually made of wood, but I should tell everyone that the entire table is made out of cake!” The conversation ends with Victoria admitting she’d be the chocolate mousse, or maybe even, no most definitely, the fruit cake.

Katherine Jenkins (born 29 June 1980 in Neath, Wales) is an award-winning Welsh mezzo-soprano. Her first album Premiere made her the fastest-selling mezzo-soprano to date and she later became the first British classical artist to have two number one albums in the same year. She also stands as the first female artist to win two consecutive Classical BRIT Awards.

Jennifer Kae could sing sooner than she could talk. A small concert stage, a rumbling backstage and a bus that drives you from A to B comprised a perfectly natural environment for the fetching little girl.

Mama and Papa made music and made a living doing so. Not always amply, but in sync with a family that managed to make ends meet. Jenniffer could already play instruments and hold the microphone with professional flair before she learned how to use knife and fork. She was born into an artist’s life and still today, now 20 years old, can’t imagine any other kind. When Mama began, she never had it as easy to get on stage, and we just have to tell her story briefly if we want to judge how self-confidently and determinedly Jenniffer later found her way to one of the hottest production teams out there.

Teresa Maria grew up in a village in the Philippines. She had 13 sisters and brothers and went to a convent school to get a decent education, just like her siblings. The nuns there certainly didn’t have a career as a singer in mind. But Teresa did. She founded a girl band and, with school hardly over, she managed somehow to get to the States. Energy and ingenuity replaced the lack of hard cash. The attraction of soul, blues, Philly- and Motown-sound outweighed all difficulties. Once in the U.S. she grabbed her chance and lived the life of a professional musician. One proposal took her on a concert tour to Germany. She plunged into the current entertainment scene and not only maintained her public but also her newly founded family.
Jennifer, and later her little sister Laura, were, on the one hand, not only genetically predestined, they also inhaled everything that had to do with music.

The family always followed the music trail. Jenniffer moved house 16 times, yet a little village not far from Mainz repeatedly became the hub of her activities.
Here Jenniffer went to school, but followed her lessons with only one ear. In the other an earphone was plugged, hidden under her long hair. Despite this she was a good student and an active class president. She did what she could to fight injustices to her fellow students and defended herself when she was teased about her exotic looks. Just to pass the time after she finished, she enrolled in a secondary school. And found it bored her to tears. Jenniffer didn’t even bother to formulate a conventional career wish—she had other plans.

She was just 16 and free for a first adventure. Together with her sister, a smart cookie in her own right (and surely in the foreseeable future someone who will get written about), she set out to explore the world. Quite spontaneously. After a movie, simply head for Paris. A girlfriend had a car and a driving license, they all had the urge, money none had and yet they lived Paris to the fullest. They slept in youth hostels or on the lawn next to the Louvre. Or off to Frankurt to a Beyoncé concert. Tickets? Long ago sold out—and anyway much too expensive for their pocket-money budget. But wanna bet that the girls not only got in but even onto the stage and the backstage area? Jenniffer can make eyes that no security heavy can withstand. Especially when it’s a case of getting close to her idol.

Change of scene. From the musical parents’ home in Königsau to a recording studio in Vögelsen. There near Lüneburg, Peter Hoffmann has his studio, a dinosaur in the German producer scene.
Up to now Tokio Hotel has been his greatest shot. If he is proud of this success he knows how to hide it with ease. He is a quiet, level-headed man, untypical for this line of work, who does not like to repeat himself and likes to try out new things. After the years spent building up Tokio Hotel, he wanted to work with a female singer and asked around. Jennifer Kae’s voice stuck in his mind. He invited her to audition, which ended with Jenniffer as part of the studio family. Hoffmann helped her find her own way. This experienced studio man is no friend of rush jobs. For four long years they experimented with different musical concepts. They tried working with German texts, but her musical feel for speech and rhythm had clearly been internationally formed. So Hoffmann sought a hands-on alliance with the English songwriter and producer team of Steve Chrisanthou and John Beck, who have worked with Corinne Bailey Rae, Michael Bolton and Tasmin Archer and took them on to success. They recognized the young singer’s vocal potential on the spot, and an intense collaboration began in which Jenniffer was not only meant to play the part of performer. From the beginning she was integrated into work on the lyrics, and her faith in her own ability to express herself grew.

“There are things that build up till you almost burst—and they can then find their way out via my music and my voice.” The positive and the negative. Consciously or subconsciously. It’s about the soul, no question. As wide-ranging as every shade of inner life can be. “little white lies, for example, is a song about the tiny deceits we practice in a relationship that destroys trust and stifles the ‘we’.” The time has come for a complete break; you must be able to say ciao before the pain grows unbearable. “little white lies” (release: 9 May 2008) is the first single uncoupled from the album “faithfully” (release: 16 May 2008); anyone who expects this to come on as a downhearted ballad doesn’t know Jenniffer very well. “Sure I sing about heavy themes—but I can’t let them weigh me down!” She sings the song with lots of energy—the soul can breathe again, the heart open.
